»ACCOUNTS OF EVIL«

an illustrated annual report

»The Worlds Playground« - Atlantic City, 1929.
Thanks to Prohibition, the illegal alcohol business is booming. The mastermind and leader of this vicious entertainment metropolis is Enoch Johnson, a corrupt politician, Atlantic County sheriff and shrewd businessman who, within a few years, turns the coastal town south of New York into the countries den of sin.

»We have whisky, wine, women, song andslot machines. I won't deny it and I won't apologize for it. If the majority of the people didn't want them they wouldn't be profitable and they wouldn't exist. The fact that they do exist proves to me that the people want them.« - Enoch Johnson

In 1929, gang wars raged in Chicago and New York, and, thanks to the generous host of Enoch Johnson, Atlantic City became the site of the Atlantic City Conference, the earliest summit of the United States' criminal underworld, initiated by Meyer Lansky (Kosher Nostra, New York).

The project was created in 2016 in collaboration with Daniel Nicácio Oliveira, accompanied by Prof. Dipl.-Des. Gisela Grosseand Prof. Dipl.-Des.Felix Scheinberger.
